National Pole Vault Summit

To Advance Pole Vault Education and Safety for Athlete's, Parents, and Coaches...

The National Pole Vault Summit is a developmental clinic established and carried on to promote safety and encourage development of the Pole Vault at all levels through continued education. We have structured the clinic to meet the needs of all ability levels. The divisions are: Beginners - High School - College - Open - Masters - Coaches - Parents

Activities, drills, and participation groups are specifically set up for all beginners and High School athletes according to ability level. These sessions are divided to allow all of these athletes to learn by doing with a group of athletes with similar ability level.

Lectures and breakout sessions promote and encourage discussions specifically for all College, Open, Masters, Coaches and Parents.

2008 Pole Vault Summit will focus on the following:

Speed Development

Sprint Mechanics

Developing the Approach Run

The vaulter/pole system

Length of run and acceleration curve

The Critical zone and Analysis of World Class Vaulters

Pole Vault Summit staff are selected to create the best possible learning environment for all athletes, coaches, and parents.

2008 Details

Date : January 4th and 5th 2008

All Competitions and High School Activities will be at Reno Livestock Event Center

Competition Schedules WILL NOT be done until the week of the summit. We can not under any circumstances accommodate special competition time requests. Competitions will be anywhere from 8:00 am start to 8:00 pm start. We will not move competitions to accommodate any early departure or special requests.

The complete facility will be available for our use and to set up as many as 12 runways and landing areas. Far more space than before will be available for drills and warm up activities. Unlike in the past, Coaches and parents will have unobstructed views of all competitions. All attendees including spectators will be able to see the Friday Night Show and Elite Competitions.

The Elite athlete competition will be combined with Masters Competitions on Friday the 4th. We will fully utilize the Hotel Convention and Meeting Room facilities. The opening ceremony for over 2000 will be at 9:00 am with breakout sessions to follow as in the past. A fleet of buses will transport all attendees to the Event Center as needed and scheduled.

From the Airport direct and others traveling by car, poles will be moved to and remain at the Event Center. We are excited about the new change: many may even remember the evolution of the Pole Vault Summit began at the Livestock Event Center! We look forward to hosting another big event and wish all attendees and athletes the best of luck.

National Warmup Contest

Each school or club attending the 2008 Pole Vault Summit is invited to enter the National Warmup Contest.

Activity: Choreograph your warm-up routine.

Number of Athletes: Six

Length of Warmup Routine: Five minutes

Top 5 teams will be selected and will compete for the National Title at the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno on Friday Night, January 4, 2008.
